Mid Florida Eye Center hosted an open house at their Surgery Center of The Villages on Tuesday evening, celebrating the arrival of their newest specialist, Shawn Wilker, M.D.. Originally from Kissimmee, Wilker returned to his home state to practice after a long stint as a clinical professor at Case Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio.
“I really wanted to go into private practice. My family is down [in Florida], so I wanted to move closer to home” said Wilker of the opportunity to join Mid Florida Eye Center. The Center has been open for over a half-dozen years and boasts state-of-the-art facilities to accommodate patients.
The staff specializes in a variety of services pertaining to vision health, including retinal surgery and laser cataract removal.
