Community Development District 6 Supervisor John Calandro expressed his belief Friday that a temporary closing of Colony Boulevard should have been considered to alleviate traffic at the busy thoroughfare.
A great deal of discussion has taken place in recent months about the traffic running between Colony Cottage Recreation Center and Colony Plaza shopping center.
The Project Wide Advisory Committee on Dec. 6 abandoned a plan to build a golf-cart bridge over the busy roadway.
“I think there were a lot of things that weren’t looked at that that should have been looked at before we spend $250,000 for a light,” Calandro said.
The request for bids for the traffic light will go out within the next two weeks, District Manager Janet Tutt said earlier this week.
The project will be awarded to the lowest bidder who meets qualifications and reference checks.
