
THE VILLAGES – George Howard Livingston, 71, passed from this life, Tuesday, January 21, 2014. Born in York, PA, he was the son of the late George W. and Rose Ida (Peterson) Livingston. George was a retired television broadcast engineer. In 1960, after receiving a scholarship from Hall’s Motor Transit Co. in York, George attended Univ. of Miami. During that time he worked with various theater groups in No. Miami, Ruth Foreman among them, doing art, set direction and design. His goal had always been to work in the TV industry and that dream became a reality in 1965 when he was hired by the original Channel 2 as the Manager of the station’s photo lab. That was followed by Channels 10 and 6 in Miami. In 1969 he founded Channel One Video Tape, Inc. He was a pioneer in that field producing television commercials with many of the great celebrities of that era. He worked for Miami Dade County and the Miami Dade Police Department producing numerous training videos and County television shows. George was an electronics buff and brought new meaning to the term reverse engineering. He was an avid 3D and stereoscope collector. His collection ranged from the antique to current technology. George enjoyed big band and cathedral style organ music. He was an artist in metal work both in iron and copper. He did numerous macramé style pieces for Disney in the early 70s some of which are still on display today. George was an eternal kid at heart and just loved what he did. He came to The Villages from Miami, FL in 2011. He was of the Episcopal faith. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Jon T. Livingston. George is survived by his wife of 31 years, Marie (Rosenthal) Livingston, son, Jay Rosenfeld (Maria) of Miami, FL, two granddaughters, Rachel and Gabriella, a sister, Carole Anne Brenner of York, PA, Niece, Katherine A. Brenner (Axel), Reykjavik, Iceland, Sister-in-law, Deanna Livingston, York, Nephew, Blake A. Livingston, San Francisco, Daughter-in-law, Shelley Wells, Granddaughter, Corey Vasquez ( Isaac) two Great Grandchildren, all from Longmont, Colorado, and his macaw, Max. Funeral services will be private. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
