Donna Altman 71, passed away on February 9, 2014. She was born December 4, 1942 in Toledo, Ohio. At a young age she moved to Florida. She was a graduate of Miami High School and the University of South Florida with a degree in Education. She was a teacher in the South Florida area. Donna relocated to the Summerfield area 8 years ago with her husband, Jay. She enjoyed being a member of the Del Webb Writer’s, Ceramics, and Tequila Rose Tea Clubs. She was an accomplished writer and poet with many poems published. Donna is preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Betty Epstein. She is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Jordan “Jay” Altman; daughter Jenine (Edwin) Herrell; granddaughters- Emily, Bronwyn, Teagan, and great – grandson, Kaidan. A Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services Belleview from 6 to 8 PM. A service will be held Thursday, February 13, 2014 at 10:00 AM at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, Belleview with an interment to follow at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell. Donations can be made in her name to either American Cancer Society or Lighthouse For The Blind in lieu of flowers.
