“Winter’s Tale” is a movie that requires a desire to believe that love is a power that
exceeds reality, logic or inevitability. It is a movie about angels, demons, fantasy and an ultimate belief that good will always conquer evil and that miracles can and do happen. That is a lot to try and put up on a screen with a story line that is credible and capable of being explained in a two hour window of time. The story line is often difficult to follow. The good versus evil backdrop requires an imagination capable of believing that not only do these two realities exist but that they exist in our everyday lives. Colin Farrell, Russell Crowe and Jennifer Connelly deliver credible performances in their attempt to bring this often difficult to follow story line to the screen. Will Smith, as a cameo Lucifer character, is surprisingly effective. Through all of the negative aspects of this movie there is an underlying story of love and hope that good can and does conquer evil that will win you over. You will forget about the improbabilities of the characters and the story line and your head and heart will come to accept that which we all hope to be true. Love does conquer all and miracles can and do happen. Happy Valentines Day.
