A Villager who was critically injured in a golf cart accident on Feb. 25 has died as a result of those injuries.
A memorial service was held Wednesday at Page-Theus Funeral Home Chapel for Richard Manning Ziegler, 76, who passed away Sunday.
Manning had been traveling westbound in the outside golf cart lane of Stillwater Trail near Canal Street when he lost control of the golf cart which struck the inside shoulder curb, according to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol.The golf cart traveled onto the inside golf cart median at which point Ziegler was ejected onto the roadway. The accident occurred at 11:21 p.m. Feb. 25. He had been taken to to Ocala Regional Medical Center following the accident.
Ziegler was born on June 17, 1937 in Detroit, MI to the late John Sr. and Monabell Ziegler. He served his country in the Air National Guard and was active during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Together Richard and his late wife Lynne had run the family deli and vending businesses. He is survived by a son; Andy, a daughter; Sondra, grandchildren, and other relatives.
His wife, Lynne Roberta Ziegler passed away on Dec. 22, 2013 at the age of 76.
