
Frank Materia, 83, of Lady Lake, FL, passed into Heaven March 30, 2014 after a long, courageous battle with scleroderma. A native New Yorker, he and his beloved wife of 55 years, Josephine, moved to The Villages in 1995. Frank had a passion for his family, friends, good food and laughter, rollerblading and tap dancing, all while maintaining his accounting practice in NY. Frank was deeply devoted to his wife, children: Sal Materia, Fran Rogers, and Steven Materia, and their spouses. His grandchildren all adored him: Stephen and Michael Rogers, and Angelina Materia. He was beloved by his niece Christine Larsen, her two children, and her parents, Mary and Curt Brewer. He is survived by his sister Johanna Curry of NJ, her husband and their 4 children. Frank proudly served in the U.S. Air Force in the 2035th AACS Squadron and as a radio mechanic during the Korean War; he was awarded the Korean Service Medal with 2 Bronze Stars, plus Medals for Good Conduct, National Defense Service, and United Nations Service. Frank was a devout Catholic. Family and Friends may call Thursday April 3rd at Beyers Funeral Home, 134 N. Highway 27/441, Lady Lake from 4 – 7 PM with prayer service following. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Timothy’s Catholic Church at 8:30 AM on Friday April 4th. Immediately following, a Celebration of Life will be held from 9:30-10:30 AM in the Fellowship Hall with refreshments. Graveside Services will be held at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell on April 4th at 11:30 AM with military honors.
