A draft map showing proposed districts for Wildwood City Commissioners is out for public inspection.

Bracing for growth from The Villages and other planned developments, commissioners want to move from at-large representation to district representation. The proposed political self-preservation would protect commissioners from being swamped by new residents soon to flood the city.

The measure is expected to be placed on the November ballot.

Here’s a quick look at the proposed districts:

District 1 Robby Strickland – 629 units

District 2 Pamala Harrison-Bivins – 565 units

District 3 Julian Green – 531 units

District 4 Mayor Ed Wolf – 583 units

District 5 Don C. Clark – 596 units

There are 391 acres within The Villages of Wildwood (Brownwood and Pinellas Plaza) that are located within the municipal limits of Wildwood. The residential components of  Villages of Wildwood are the soon-to-be-occupied Antrim Dells and Alden Bungalows.

There will be 362 total homes in the The Villages of Wildwood within Wildwood city limits at total buildout.

The starting point for drawing up the boundaries were the commissioners’ home residences.

A new commission-appointed Citizens Advisory Committee has been tasked with assisting in the map process.
