Harold Dean “Hal” Short, 82, of The Villages, Florida passed away May 17, 2014 at The Villages Regional Hospital. He was born on February 4, 1932 in Danville, Illinois to William and Stella (Mathews) Short.
Hal served his country in the United States Navy. He was a retired electrical engineer. Hal moved to The Villages from North Providence, R.I. in 2003. He was an avid golfer and sports enthusiast and lived his life to the fullest. . He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Hal is survived by his wife of 59 and a half years, Virginia M. Short, The Villages, FL; two daughters, Kathleen M. Christie, The Villages, FL; Karen J. Stotka,, and her husband Mark Stotka, North Smithfield, R.I.
The family will receive friends at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, The Villages on Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mark The Evangelist Catholic Church. Interment will be at Florida National Cemetery.
