Charlie Crist’s Democratic gubernatorial opponent Nan Rich has won a prestigious endorsement from the National Women’s Political Caucus.

The organization chose Rich over Crist, a one-time Republican.

Rich will address the Democratic Club of The Villages at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 14 at Colony Recreation Center.

In its statement, the Washington, D.C.-based, pro-women candidates organization pointed to Rich’s history of effectively working across the aisle to facilitate bipartisan negotiations. She has been instrumental, NWPC said, in stopping bad legislation regarding women’s rights and passing good legislation regarding the public education system, and has a proven commitment to improving the working class family through progressive legislation. She also has extensive experience in advocacy and community service, and has worked to improve the lives of women, children and families in Florida and the United States.

The winner of the Crist-Rich contest will face Gov. Rick Scott in November.

The primary is Aug. 26.
