The shooting of a Domino’s pizza delivery man early this morning in Royal is under investigation by the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded shortly after midnight this morning to the area of County Road 462 and County Road 235 where pizza delivery man Jack Sickman, 46, of Lake Panasoffkee, had been shot in the face.

When Sickman had arrived at a pizza delivery location, he was confronted by two black males in their mid-20s. One of the men demanded money.

When Sickman refused, one of the men shot through the driver’s side window.

Sickman was then pulled from the Dodge Ram pickup he was driving and money was removed from his pants pockets. The men also took two pizzas, and a two-liter bottle of Sprite.  The suspects were last seen running east from the scene toward County Road 235.

Sickman was transported by Rural Metro ambulance to Ocala Regional Hospital for treatment. He was listed in stable condition.

The men are described as 5 feet, 6 inches to 5 feet, 8 inches tall with slim build; wearing white T-shirts and with bandannas covering their faces.

Royal is located southwest of The Villages near Interstate 75.
