Thomas W. Pifer, Jr., 66, of The Villages, Florida, passed from this life Thursday, August 14, 2014. Born in Venezuela, he was the son of the late Thomas W. and Mary Judith (Peck) Pifer. Thomas was a retired U. S. Army SFC. He served 22 years of active duty in the financial and recruiting fields. Following his retirement he was employed by the State of Florida as a veteran’s employment specialist in St. Petersburg. Retiring in 2006, he moved to The Villages from St. Petersburg. Thomas was of the Protestant faith and enjoyed playing golf. Sadly, he was predeceased by his wife, Sally (Wilderson) Pifer in 2013. Thomas is survived by a son, Thomas W. Pifer, III and his wife Rachael Pifer of Largo, FL, a brother, Joseph A. Pifer and his wife Paula Pifer of Spring Valley, CA and grandson, Thomas W. Pifer, IV. Funeral services with military honors will be held at Bay Pines National Cemetery, St. Petersburg, FL on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at 10 a.m.
