A 45-year-old Summerfield woman was arrested Sunday afternoon by Sumter County sheriff’s deputies following a fight with a man over ownership of a vehicle.
Deputies were called shortly before 1 p.m. Sunday to County Road 466 at County Road 107 in Oxford.
April Anne Abbott was at the scene after she had arrived to assist a man whose vehicle had run out of gasoline. Once she had arrived, she had gotten into a fight with the man over the ownership of the vehicle and struck him in the face, according to the arrest report.
She told deputies that “she struck the victim in the face but felt that she did not hit him hard enough to hurt him,” according to the arrest report.
She was arrested on a charge of battery and transported to the Sumter County Detention Center where bond was set at $1,000.
