Rick “Doc” Jones has withdrawn his candidacy from the Amenity Authority Committee election.
“My reasons are personal and private,” the Village of El Cortez resident said in a phone call from Villages-News.com.
That whittles the AAC race in the Lady Lake/Lake County portion of The Villages down to two candidates, Lowell Barker and Frank Kirschenheiter.
Last week, Lowell Barker received the endorsement of the Villages Homeowners Association, a group of which Jones and Kirschenheiter are members. Barker is not a member of the VHA.
Barker has also received the endorsement of the Property Owners Association.
The winner of the race will succeed Jo Weber who opted not to run again.
In other AAC races, incumbent Carl Bell faces challenger Tom Fetherling. Marty Rothbard, a former AAC member, is challenging incumbent Ann Forrester.
The election will be Nov. 4.
