Man arrested after allegedly trying to steal two TVs from Wal-Mart

A 55-year-old man was arrested Tuesday by Marion County sheriff’s deputies after he allegedly tried to steal two televisions from the Wal-Mart in Summerfield.

According to an arrest report, Michael Edward Owens placed the pair of televisions in his cart and attempted to leave the store without paying for them. He was stopped by a loss prevention officer at the store. He was arrested on a charge of  retail grand theft. He was also arrested on a probation violation stemming from an earlier conviction of burglary of a dwelling.

He was booked at the Marion County Jail.
