The Lady Lake Police Department swore in a new officer Thursday morning.
Matthew Duryea is the newest member of the town’s police force.
He spent 11 years as a chef before making a career change and becoming a law enforcement officer.
Duryea’s wife Christie is also a chef. She runs a bakery in Inverness.
Police Chief Chris McKinstry and Mayor Ruth Kussard were on hand to welcome the town’s newest officer.
