A 41-year-old Ocala police officer was arrested Friday on two counts of unlawful sexual activity with a minor.
Officer Bennie L. Wilson III is accused of fondling a 16-year-old runaway, according to a press release from the Ocala Police Department. Wilson encountered the same teen two weeks later and they engaged in sexual activity and he gave her $20 afterward, the release indicated.
On Friday night, Wilson was interviewed by an investigator with the Community Policing Bureau. Wilson admitted to being aware the victim was under the age of 18 and that certain sexual activities did occur.
Wilson was transported to the Marion County Jail. His bond is set at $10,000. He has been placed on unpaid suspension pending the internal investigation.
