Two Villagers arrested after having sex Oct. 1 on a utility box at the Morse Boulevard traffic circle have been sentenced to six months in jail.

Charm Ann Gilbert, 40, of the Village of Tierra Del Sol, and James Richard Adams, 47, of the Village of Orange Blossom Gardens, each pleaded no contest in an appearance this week in front of Judge Thomas D. Skidmore in Sumter County Court.

Gilbert and Adams had each been charged with exposure of sexual organs and disorderly conduct. The pair, held without bond at the Sumter County Detention Center since their Oct. 1 arrest, will receive credit for time already served. Adams and Gilbert each will have to pay $1,114.91 in fines and court costs. They will also be assessed $50 per day for their jail stay.

A Sumter County sheriff’s deputy was called at 8:42 a.m. Oct. 1 to the utility box at Morse Boulevard and El Camino Real  after being alerted by a worker in the area.

According to the arrest affidavits, Gilbert’s shirt was pulled up over her breasts and her shorts and underwear were off. Adams’ sexual organ was fully exposed and he was standing in front of her, according to the arrest report.

Upon arrival, the deputy immediately ordered the two to get dressed.

Adams told the deputy he and Gilbert had been having sex at the location “due to them not having any other place to go,” the arrest report indicated.

The deputy’s report noted the couple had been in full view of the public.

Judge Skidmore also handed out six-month sentences in the now-infamous Sex on the Square case earlier this year. The woman in that case, 68-year-old Villager Peggy Klemm, was released a week ago given credit for good behavior.
