Thirty-eight children escaped injury when this school bus caught fire on Interstate 4.

All lanes of Interstate 4 were closed Wednesday morning due to heavy smoke from a school bus fire.

A Discovery Academy school bus driver had been traveling westbound on I-4 at the Mile Marker 51 at 7:24 a.m. when the bus experienced mechanical problems and began to emit smoke, according to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol. Discovery Academy is located in Lake Alfred.

The driver pulled to the shoulder and stopped as the bus caught fire. All 38 middle school-aged children and the driver exited the bus without injury. The bus was later completely consumed by the fire.
