Opera fans in The Villages now have another reason to celebrate the holidays.
Grammy Award winning soloist Molly Fillmore will be heading a “Christmas Spectacular” at St. Timothy’s Catholic Church on Dec. 16, at 4 and 7 p.m. Tickets are $10, and are available daily at the Church Office, at 1351 Paige Place, from 9 until 3 p.m. Tickets will also be sold the day of the event.
The program is presented by the Music Ministry at St. Timothy’s along with the Central Florida Lyric Opera Company. Maestro Bill Doherty will direct the concert, which also features the St. Timothy’s Church Choir.
The program will feature a mix of holiday music, from classical to pop, and sacred to secular, Doherty indicated.
Among the songs include, “Sleigh Ride,” “Winter Wonderland,” “Joy to the World” and “O Holy Night.”
Fillmore earned a 2013 Grammy for Best Opera awarded to the Metropolitan Opera’s “Der Ring der Nibelungen.” She played the role of “Helmwige” in that production.
