A registered sex offender was arrested New Year’s Day after a disturbance at The Villages Regional Hospital.

A woman from Skyline Drive in Lady Lake was being treated at TVRH when 41-year-old David A. Harrison showed up and became combative.

He allegedly attempted to give a series of false names to law enforcement officers.

Harrison, who lists an address in Altoona, Fla., allegedly threw a hot cup of coffee at a law enforcement officer who was on the scene. A law enforcement officer then tasered Harrison in the hospital parking lot, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.

It was discovered that Harrison was wanted on a Lake County warrant for failure to register as a sex offender.

Harrison was convicted in 1997 in Sumter County on a charge of committing a lewd, lascivious act with a child. In 2005, he was convicted of failure to register properly in Lake County. In 2007, he was convicted of failing to register properly in Marion County, according to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.

Harrison was arrested on a felony charge of resisting an officer with violence. He was also arrested on charges of battery and fraud/impersonation. He was booked at the Sumter County Jail on $10,500 bond.
