The Sumter County Clerk of Courts will begin issuing same-sex marriage licenses beginning Tuesday, Jan. 6.
A federal judge cleared the way for same sex marriage as of Jan. 6. Judge Robert Hinkle clarified his initial ruling on Thursday, saying clerks throughout all Florida counties must issue licenses.
Attorney General Pam Bondi has said she will not try to block county clerks from issuing licenses,
Some local churches have indicated they will welcome gay weddings, and some will waive customary fees.
