Two Summerfield teens suffered critical injuries early Sunday morning when their car left the roadway, traveled across several driveways and damaged two parked cars.
Codey Alan Benoit, 18, was behind the wheel of a 2002 Nissan Sentra at 1:07 a.m. Sunday traveling westbound on SE 135 St. His car left the roadway and collided with a pile of junk furniture, according to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol. The car’s front end then collided with a metal culvert and became airborne, then colliding with a utility pole, which broke in half and caused damage to a cable box. His vehicle continued airborne in a southwesterly direction over several vehicles which were parked in a driveway. The vehicle hit a fence and tree before finally overturning, the report indicated.
Codey Benoit was transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center.
A passenger in the vehicle, 14-year-old Travis Benoit, was transported to Arnold Palmer Children’s Hospital in Orlando.
The crash remains under investigation.
