
Wallace E. “Wally” Mitchell, III, 81, passed away Tuesday, March 10, 2015. Wally moved to The Villages in 2005 from Atlanta. He was an executive in the travel industry for 45 years and held the Certified Travel Counselor status. He retired from AMR Corp as Manager of Leisure Marketing. He founded The Interline Club of Chicago, was Past President of SKAL, an international travel executive organization and was an officer for numerous travel organizations. Wally’s hobbies were bridge, reading, pickleball and golf and enjoyed travel, cooking and his grandchildren. He is survived by his fiancée, Shirley Halloran; children, Anne Marie Crays (John), Tracy Burch, Margaret Mitchell, Barbara Graber, of Indiana, Wally Mitchell of Texas; twelve grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; sister, Alice Clauss; brother, Robert Mitchell and 6 nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held at 12 noon Friday, March 13, 2015. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until service time at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, 1511 Buenos Aires, The Villages, Florida, 32159. The family requests that in lieu of flowers contributions in Wally’s memory be made to Cornerstone Hospice or a charity of your choice. The family will also receive friends from 4 – 8 p.m. Sunday March 15, 2015 with funeral mass on Monday, March 16, 2015 at St. John Catholic Church with interment following at St. John Catholic Church Cemetery in Loogootee, Indiana.
