Joseph Busi, age 94, of The Villages, FL passed away on Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at Sumter Place, The Villages. He was the husband of Margaret Busi for 69 years. Born in Edri, Pennsylvania he was a son of the late Andrea and Josephine Busi. Margaret and Joseph moved to The Villages in 2011 from Rio Rancho, NM. He was a Veteran of the U. S. Army serving during WWII. He landed on the beaches of Normandy on D-Day, June 6, 1944 and was wounded during the Battle of the Bulge, December 18, 1944. He was the recipient of a Bronze Star, Silver Star and the Purple Heart. He was a member of the American Legion Post 347, Lady Lake, FL and a Lifetime member of the DAV. Prior to his retirement he was an auto mechanic and hydraulics specialist. He enjoyed painting and wood carving. His son Don wrote the book, “Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door” detailing Joseph’s experiences during WWII. He will be deeply missed by his wife, Margaret and sons: Donald Busi (wife, Paulette) of The Villages, FL. and Joseph D. Busi (wife, Gail) of Datil, NM. He is the grandfather of 5 and has 8 great grandchildren. A visitation will be held on Monday, April 13, 2015 from 10 – 11 a.m. at the Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, 1511 Buenos Aires Blvd., The Villages, FL . A Funeral Service will follow Monday at 11 a.m. followed by interment in the Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL with Military Honors rendered by the American Legion Post # 347.
