Former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s team made it official Sunday: she is making a second run for the Democratic presidential nomination.
News broke last week that Clinton would run for the presidency in 2016, and she is expected to head to Iowa, home of the first caucus, in the coming days. Clinton holds a commanding lead in the polls over her potential Democratic rivals with Vice President Joe Biden usually in distant second and U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., in third.
John Podesta, who served as White House chief of staff under President Bill Clinton, sent out an email to supporters on Sunday in which he confirmed the official launch to the new presidential campaign.
“I wanted to make sure you heard it first from me — it’s official: Hillary’s running for president,” Podesta wrote.
