Fox News personality Gretchen Carlson writes about getting fired and what it taught her in her new memoir.
“One of the most revealing things I tell in my new book is my struggle with being fired. I was part of the first two female anchor team ever for local news. It didn’t work out — and I was fired the week after getting married,” she said.”My boss told me: ‘You’ll be fine now that you have a husband.’ Not really. I had my own self-identity and what about my own self worth?”
Carlson will be signing copies of her book at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 18 at the Barnes and Noble at Lake Sumter Landing.
Those planning to be at the event won’t need wristbands. Copies of her book will be available at the store.
Carlson joined Fox News in 2005, and currently hosts “The Real Story with Gretchen Carlson,” which airs weekday afternoons. She formerly served as co-host of Fox & Friends. Prior to joining Fox News, Carlson was co-anchor of CBS News’ Saturday Early Show. Carlson is the recipient of the prestigious American Women in Radio and Television “Best Series” award, for her 30-part series on domestic violence, and two Emmy awards for her work at CBS News. Carlson is originally from Minnesota. She graduated with honors from Stanford University, and also studied at Oxford University in the United Kingdom. She is married with two children.
