Lillie May Mathews, 86, Lady Lake, FL passed away on Sunday, June 21, 2015. She was born in Elmer, NJ and moved to Lady Lake from Elmer in 1952. She was a life member of the Women’s Club of Leesburg, founder of the Lake County Special Olympics, member of the Lady Lake Garden Club, honorary life member of Lake County Council of Federated Garden Clubs and was installed into the Lake County Women’s Hall of Fame. Survivors include her husband of 68 years Glen Alfred Mathews, Lady Lake; daughter Mary Ann (John)Hallowell, Fruitland Park; 2 grandchildren: Glen Eric (Jamie) Hallowell and Todd Mathew (Valencia) Hallowell; great granddaughter Finley Lynn Hallowell and several brothers and sisters. A funeral service will be held at the Lady Lake Chapel of Beyers Funeral Home on Thursday, June 25, 2015 at 2 p.m. with a visitation from 1 – 2 p.m. prior to the service. Interment will be at Shiloh Cemetery in Fruitland Park.
