Community Development District 2 supervisors have agreed to spend roughly $5,000 on an aerator to combat an algae problem in a retention pond.
CDD 2 residents have appealed to supervisors about problems at the retention pond which was once known at “Lake Bonita” in the Village of Santo Domingo.
Residents said the poor condition of the pond has driven away wildlife that once flourished there.
“Getting oxygen in the water makes a real difference,” said CDD 2 Chairman John Blum.
The aerator will cost about $60 per month to operate.
