Former Villages High School football standout Nigel Barker has pleaded not guilty to a charge of domestic battery.

The 21-year-old remains free on $3,000 bond following his arrest last month after he allegedly battered the mother of his child after an argument over a packet of doughnuts.

According to court records, Barker has been ordered to have no contact with the victim. The arrest affidavit indicated she was reluctant to say or do anything that would get Barker in trouble. Her mother called police on the day of the alleged incident.

Barker has been declared indigent according to court records and is being represented by the public defender.

He is due back in Lake County Court on Aug. 7.

Barker, who had been a member of the VHS Class of 2012, played running back and corner back for the Buffalo.
