To the Editor:

Recently, (June 22, 2015), our golf cart was stolen was from the square at Sumter Landing between 5:45 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. As a result of this, we have learned a few things. First of all, we learned that for many golf carts, the keys are interchangeable. We also learned that it is possible to have personal key ignitions installed. We learned there are few cameras in the downtown area. The camera closest to where our cart was parked came within about a 1/2 block of it. The most disturbing lesson learned was that we can’t be as trusting as we have been in the past. We strongly doubt that it was one of you who took our cart, but unfortunately it’s not just “us” who visit the squares and the shops. I am writing this letter to alert fellow Villagers, hoping to prevent you from sharing our experience. Incidentally, our car was a 2010 Club Car Precedent, blue with white pin-striping and a light tan Curtis Cab.
