Donald Trump leads favorite sons Jeb Bush and Marco Rubio in a new Florida poll.

A Quinnipiac University poll released Thursday shows Trump with 21 percent, ahead of Bush who had 17 percent. Rubio tied physician Ben Carson with 11 percent.

It could be the latest indication that Trump is moving from a side show to a serious contender.

Earlier this month, Trump came in second in a straw poll taken at the Republican Federated Women of The Villages. Rubio picked up 27.3 percent in that poll, while Trump earned 22.7 percent of the vote. Carson and Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker tied for third.

Last month, Trump and Walker tied in a straw poll taken among members of the Villages Tea Party.

In the Quinnipac University poll, Hillary Clinton leads with 48 percent, followed by 15 percent for Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders and 11 percent for Vice President Joe Biden, with 17 percent undecided.
