homes lose power in Villages southern end
This transmission line was damaged, leading to the loss of power for thousands of residents.

SECO Energy has restored power to all 11,000 customers who lost power Wednesday afternoon in the southern section of The Villages.

The outage stretched from Brownwod Paddock Square across residential areas from State Road 44A to County Road 466A.

Down at Brownwood Paddock Square, members of the Sugar Bear Band were attempting to rig up battery operated microphones to get the music going at 5 p.m.

SECO crews worked to backfeed wide areas right now.

Several areas had been already restored or were coming up by late afternoon on restoration as the backfeed (re-route of power from other sources) process continued, said Kathryn Gloria of SECO.

“However, we won’t be able to pick up the full load from other substations. The repair itself will be more time consuming given the height and size of bucket needed,” she said.
