
State Sen. Alan Hays is out of the running to become the next president of Lake Sumter State College.
A panel has been tasked with finding a successor to President Charles Mojock, and this week sorted through initial applications.
The Umatilla Republican, who is term-limited from running again for his Senate seat, was among more than 200 applicants for the LSSC president’s job.
Ten applicants remain for the next round of interviews via video conferences. Those who make it through that level of scrutiny will visit the campus and then interview with board members.
