A 40-year-old woman was arrested Thursday after she allegedly fled Belk with Ralph Lauren Polo men’s boxer briefs, Anne Klein jewelry and an Izod sweater concealed in her purse.
Danielle Devereaux of Summerfield was spotted at 10:47 a.m. by a loss prevention officer as she was leaving the La Plaza Grande retailer.
The loss prevention officer attempted to detain Devereaux, who got into her car. She told the loss prevention officer she was sorry and already on probation, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department. Devereaux got out of her car and then kicked the loss prevention officer. She then fled to Wendy’s on Bichara Boulevard and hid in the women’s restroom.
She was arrested on charges of retail theft and resisting a merchant. She is also facing a charge of violating her probation out of North Carolina.
She is being held without bond at the Lake County Jail.
