The Marion County Board of County Commissioners on Thursday adopted the final budget for next fiscal year, which runs from Oct. 1, 2015-Sept. 30, 2016. The total adopted budget is $552,098,008.
During its Sept. 24 final budget public hearing, the commission adopted the countywide millage rate of 3.90 mills. A millage rate of 3.90 equates to $3.90 for each $1,000 of taxable property value. This is the same millage rate as the current fiscal year.
All other non-countywide millage rates will also remain at their current levels, including the MSTU for Law Enforcement and the MSTU for Fire, Rescue and EMS. The MSTU for Law Enforcement was kept at a millage rate of 3.47. This MSTU is applied to properties in the unincorporated areas of the county that receive sheriff patrol services. The MSTU for Fire, Rescue and EMS remained at a millage rate of 0.77.
The special assessment rates for fire, solid waste and stormwater also remained at the same levels.
