Two people were transported from the scene of an accident Tuesday afternoon in which a golf cart was struck by a van.
The accident occurred at about 4:15 p.m. on Odell Circle at Ambrosia Place in the Village of Amelia.
The driver of the golf cart was traumatically injured and transported by ambulance to Ocala Regional Medical Center. The passenger also suffered injuries and was transported from the scene.
Two golf bags were thrown from the golf cart in the collision. The golf cart lost its front passenger wheel that rolled to the side of the road.
Initially, the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office was on scene investigating, but the investigation has since been handed off to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Traffic was diverted by Community Watch away from the accident site during the investigation.
