Charles W. Johnson, 87, The Villages, FL, passed away October 25, 2015 in The Villages. Charles was born Nov. 12, 1927 in Tomah, WI to Ethelwyn and Charles O. Johnson. He graduated from Waukesha High School and joined the Army, where he was an MP. He later joined the Waukesha County Sheriff’s Dept. as a deputy sheriff and later became a detective for 18 yrs. In 1969 he became Chief of Police in Jefferson, WI; where he retired after 16 yrs. and moved to Florida in 1985. He served as interim Chief of Police for Lady Lake in 1987. Charles attended several colleges and universities on his way to earning his master degree and taught part-time, criminal justice and sociology. Charles was preceded in death by his wife Ellen in 2013. Survivors include his children Kay Hoff (Tom) Littleton, CO, Carol Renz (Bill) Ocala, FL, Paula Brick (Ed); grand-children Bryan and Gina Hoff, Brandon Renz, Tyler and Adam Brick, as well as one great-granddaughter.
Visitation will be held at Hope Lutheran Church, The Villages on Thursday, Oct. 29 from 9-10 a.m., funeral service at 10 a.m. followed by a luncheon. Interment will be at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL with full military honors.
