Hoping to plead the case of the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, Community Development District 4 supervisors want to invite a Marion County commissioner to their meeting.

Marion County Sheriff Chris Blair, in a town hall meeting Thursday at Mulberry Grove Recreation Center, discussed his now-legendary budget battles with the county commission.

Several CDD 4 supervisors were at the town hall meeting.

The sheriff indicated he desperately wants more deputies. Marion County has .9 deputies per one thousand residents.

Stan McClain of Pedro represents The Villages on the Marion County Commission.

CDD 4 Supervisor Paul Kelly indicated he would like to invite McClain to a CDD 4 meeting in The Villages.

“It would be a good way to plead our case,” Kelly said.
