Thomas M. Herod, 59, of The Villages, FL passed away in his home on Wednesday, December 9, 2015. He was the husband of Lorraine Herod for 18 years.
Tom was born on Sept 13th, 1956 in St Louis, Missouri, to parents Floyd and Betty Herod. In his younger days Tom worked as a truck driver and was awarded the one million miles safety award. After a back injury Tom became a certified drug and alcohol counselor, helping many people on their road to recovery. In 2012 Tom and Lorraine moved to The Villages where they enjoyed riding in the golf cart and listening to the bands play at the squares. Tom loved watching his St. Louis Cardinals and Blues Hockey teams. Tom enjoyed playing his guitar.
Tom was a Christian and professed his belief in Jesus Christ and enjoyed long spiritual talks with Lorraine
Tom is survived by his mother Betty Herod of Florrisant MO; brothers Bill Herod of Foristell, MO, Ed Herod of Wright City, MO, Kenny Herod of Florrisant MO, Bob Herod of Bridgeton, MO and sister Mary Kranz of Spring Hill, FL; stepsons Jason Dean of Vancouver WA, Eric Dean of WA and stepdaughter Lyndsey Burton of Miami, FL; and four grandchildren, Jason Dean Jr, Raygen Dean, Aiden and Isaac Burton; uncles and aunts in MO and many nieces and nephews. Tom is preceded in death by his father, Floyd Herod.
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, 1511 Buenos Aires Blvd., The Villages, FL. Inurnment will follow at the Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL.
