To the Editor:

Are you being represented?
Newcomers to Florida may be unaware that Florida has a closed primary.  That means registered Republicans can only vote for Republicans, registered Democrats for Democrats, and Independent, Green Party or unaffiliated can vote for neither.  All registered voters can vote on referendum.
The Presidential Preference primary will be held on March 15, 2016. Those who wish to change their party affiliation must do so by February 16, 2016.
Absentee ballots will be mailed to overseas voters by January 30, and to Florida voters as early as February 9. These ballots can be counted as early as March 1, 2016 and once the counting has begun, absentee ballot voters will not be permitted to update their signatures for that election.
You can check your voting status at yourvoteflorida.com.  To register to vote, or to change your party affiliation, seehttp://www.sumterelections.org/, www.elections.lakecountyfl.gov, or www.votemarion.com.
Elections can be won
