The Sumter County Sheriff’s Office is conducting a homicide investigation.
Shortly before 11 a.m. Friday, deputies were called to the Richloam Management Area in the southeastern portion of the county after a couple who were trail riding in a Jeep discovered the body.
The deceased is a black male with a tattoo on his right bicep. No other distinguishing identifiers are known at this time.
Sheriff’s investigators will be working with the Medical Examiners Office to identify the victim and to determine a cause and manner of death.
