The World War II Book Club will meet later this week and discuss a little known program that took place on the homefront.
“The WWII Book Club is like most book clubs in that we select a book each month, most members read it and then we meet to discuss it,” said Mark Erdich of the WWII Book Club.
This month’s topic for all the WW2 related clubs is The Home Front so Movie Night will feature “The Best Years of Our Lives.” The meeting of the WW2 History Club will focus on several aspects of The home front and the WWII Book Club’s main selections will be on home front book.

The club will hear from Sandra Warren, the author of this month’s main selection, at the club meeting from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday, Jan. 29 at Colony Cottage Recreation Center. Warren will be discussing her book, “We Bought A WWII Bomber.” The book describes one community’s efforts to raise money during WWII to purchase a B-17 bomber as part of the National Buy A Bomber Program. Little has been written about this program, Erdich noted.
You do not have to be a club member to attend the event. Villagers are welcome.
