When her husband succumbs to cancer, Annie is devastated. She (Susan E. Mulholland) turns to her best friend Chris (Laney Clark) for solace. Perhaps a new sofa in the hospital waiting room would be the most appropriate memorial. The pair ask five other friends for their input and support. Where to get the money? How about a calendar of the septet sans clothing? Sounds like a chancy gamble since they are a bit plump and haunting middle age.
But it works! Their ribald fame causes some rifts; but a lot more roars.
The comedy “Calendar Girls” is out to bare as much as legally allowed at the Bay Street Theater in Eustis. The show, currently running, is directed by Ken Peterson has set attendance records wherever it has played.
The Villages 3 C’s Ohio Club has more than half the tickets for the last Saturday afternoon show on Feb. 20. With brisk ticket sales, Bay Street has added a performance.
