Week six featured a couple of upsets as the CFL nears the half way mark in the season. The league leading Paul Davis Restorations team was knocked off by 3 Amigos 16-14 and Humana cooled off Harlan Insurance 12-11. Softball’s R Game defeated Arden Jewelers 18-11 led by the three hit days of Al Mahar, Jim Stencil and Bill Yeagher. Scott Marshall, Don Mulneix, Ed Krisha, Jerry Street, Dick Smith and Dennis Bauch all had 2 hits with Bauch having a 2 run homer. Arden’s offense was led by John Meindl and sub Tom Aldredge with 3 hits each. David Blandford and Bill Nizlek each had a double and a 2 run homer in the losing effort.
Humana cooled off Harlan Insurance 12 – 11
Humana comes from behind to score 4 runs in the bottom of the 6th and 2 more in the 7th for the win. Harlan scored in every inning but the 7th and was led by Jim Kennedy, Bob Whiteley, and Ken Atkinson with 3 each each. Craig Dahlquist helped with 2 doubles and 2 rbis. Humana’s hot bats were: Tom Ramberg and Bob Slaninka with 3 hits each. Tom McGann, Bob Roth, Jim Gordon, Ed Bergheimer, Paul Schaffer, and Chuck Bowman added 2 hits apiece, with Bowman getting the walkoff single to win the game.
Babiarz Law handles Fross & Fross 20 – 10
Babiarz got 4/4 days from Ed Moriarity, John Charles, and manager, Bob Winder. Pat Perkins smacked a 3 run homer in the 2nd. John Plunkard, and Doug Nantais each had 3 hits and a walk. Fross & Fross was led by John Buchanan and ,manager, Al Deibler’s 3 hits; while, John Gouin, Dave Pope, and Tom Bortle had 2 hits each.
IHOP wins the Pancake Bowl over Perkins Restaurant 27 – 19
IHOP got 4 hits from: Ron Goldman, Tim Healey, and Duane Broschat, with Duane hitting a 3 run homer in the 7th. Bob Cramer, Jim Lambert, Bill Reed, Jerry Jensen and Dan MacPherson all had 3 hits for the winners. Perkins was led by Mike Hyott and Jim Morton with 3 hits. Those with 2 hits included: Denis Hodge, Jim Walter, Ken Link, Bob Jacques, Woody Wood, Mike DeMaio, and pitcher Ray Beaupre.
The 3 Amigos knocked off Paul Davis Restoration 16 – 14
The 3 Amigos featured Rod Severson with 4 hits including a homer to open the top of the 3rd inning. Mark Hildebrand followed with an over the fence homer. Bill Pauldine had 3 hits, while, John Ashby, Terry Brooks, John Wyks, and manager Wayne Grunewald all had 2 hits. Paul Davis had Bob Buchanan with the hot stick as he hit a single, triple and home run. Chick Cicatelli had 3 hits as did Bob DePace. Those with 2 hits were: Jeff Bekasi, Don Melcher, Tim Wilcox, Jim Moyer, Mike Hughes, and Tom Ledoux.
Mulberry Integrative Medicine handles Synergy 11 – 8
Mulberry had 3 hits from Chuck Alexander; and, 2 hits apiece from: Mike Bernbach, Ed Haith, George Loew, Paul Justice, John Kushner, Jack Nagle, and Gene Llafet. Synergy Wealth was led by Vince Pezzullo and Dan Kincaid, who each had 3 hits. Jim Creed had 2 hits in the loss.
