Term-limited out of the Florida House of Representatives, Marlene O’Toole has now set her sights on the state senate.

O’Toole, a Republican living in The Villages, will take on Dennis Baxley in the GOP primary in August. The seat is currently held by Alan Hays, who opted not to run again and is a candidate for Lake County supervisor of elections. A newly-carved District 12 includes Sumter County, south Marion County and north Lake County. O’Toole resides in the Lady Lake section of The Villages in Lake County

The retired IBM executive from Massachusetts, has cultivated a reputation as a common sense, pro-business legislator.

In 2014 in a speech to local Republicans at Savannah Center, she ruled out a state senate bid. You can read about that HERE

Baxley is also a current member of the Florida House. You can read more about his bid HERE.
