Week ten of the Central Florida League’s winter season saw plenty of offense as 10 home runs were hit. We also saw the makeup of a game rained out early in the season.
In one of the one run games, Fross & Fross held off a bottom of the 7th comeback effort by IHOP to win 10-9.
Fross was led by John Buchanan, Carl McWilliams, and manager Al Deibler, who all had 3 hits with Deibler smacking a 3 run homer. Ron Rowe, Dave Pope and Gordie Lewis all chipped in 2 hits for the winners. IHOP’s Jerry Jensen had a 3 for 3 day with a key triple in the 7th inning. Down by 7 going into the bottom of the 7th IHOP’s first 7 batters all had a hit to score 6 runs; but, fell one short.
In the rain makeup game, Harlan Insurance defeated Paul Davis 16-8.
Harlan had 3 hits each from: Fred Hughes, Craig Dahlquist, Bill Naasz, and Bob Whiteley. Whiteley had a 2 run homer. George Kennedy, Charles Clare, and Ray Bedford added 2 hits each. Paul Davis had 3 hits from Tom Farrell and 2 each from: Chick Cicatelli and Jeff Bekasi.
Humana bested Mulberry Integrative Medicine 10-3.
Human had the hitting bats of Randy Murgittroyd and Chuck Bowman, who each had 3 hits. Ed Bergheimer had a double and drove in 2 runs, while Bob Roth stroked a triple to drive in another run. Mulberry had only 2 less hits than Humana; but, was unable to string them together to score runs. Paul Justice and Ed Haith both had 2 hits for Mulberry.
Softball’s R Game came out slugging and defeated Buffalo Crossing 28-10.
SRG was led by the 4 hits of: Jim Stencil, Scott Marshall, Gerry Street; while Don Mulneix, Dick Smith, Bill Yeager, Bill Nisbet, Dennis Bauch, and Jack Marx all had 3 hits. Bauch had a 3 run homer in the 1st while Marx had a 2 run in the sixth. Buffalo Crossing scored 5 runs in the 3rd and 4 in the sixth. Buffalo Crossing got 3 hits by Jim Wiegand to drive in 3 runs. Joe DeGeorge, Will Kutter, and Joe Cataldi all had 2 hits with Cataldi hitting a 2 run homer. Tom Winegarden also had a 2 run homer as part of the 4 run sixth inning.
Synergy Wealth goes ahead in the top of the seventh and holds on to defeat Paul Davis 20-19.
Synergy got 4 hits from Doug St.Andrews and Rick Duemler and 3 from John Reedy. St.Andrews and Dave Williams both had solo homers in the win. Paul Davis had 5 hits from Bob Buchanan and 4 each from Jeff Bekasi and Bob Kelly. Don Melcher drove in 3 runs and Phil Palma 4 for PDR.
Babiarz Law defeated Arden Jewelers 17-10.
Babiarz was led by Felix Rodriguez, who went 4-4 and drove in 3 runs. Ed Moriarity, Bud Ramsey, and John Charles all had 3 hits, with Charles smacking a 3 run homer. Arden’s David Blandford had 3 hits with 2 doubles and a triple to drive in 4 runs. Bob Nizlek had 3 hits while John Meindl, Jack Meagher and Gary Luck each had 2 in the loss.
Harlan Insurance won their 2nd game of the day defeating Perkins Restaurant 17-8.
Harlan was led by Charles Clare and Bob Whiteley, who had 4 hits each. Adding 3 hits apiece for Harlan were: Ray Bedford and Bill Naasz. Craig Dahlquist stroked a triple to drive in 2 runs. Perkins got 4 hits from Jim Walter and 3 each from: Bob Jacques and Ken Link in the losing effort.
