A metropolis where all types of animals live together in harmony would surely be a utopia. Disney takes this concept as the base for itsnewest animation movie “Zootopia”.

Judy Hopps leaves her home in Bunny Burrow to be the first rabbit on the Zootopia Police Force. Her initial task is to be the parking meter “maid” which she takes on with zeal, setting records for the number of tickets written in one day.

Hopps pleads for a more challenging assignment from Chief Bogo, a huge African water buffalo.  He tells her that there are more than a dozen animals currently on the missing mammal list.  Find them.  He gives her 10 hours to do the job or she can turn in her badge.

A chance meeting with Nick Wilde, a con-artist fox, gives Judy the savvy she needs to make progress.  A license plate captured on a street camera leads them to the Department of Mammal Vehicles (DMV) run by sloths which touches the adult funny bones.

Disney hits all the right theme buttons.  You can be anything you set your mind to. Diversity is good. Self-worth is important.

“Zootopia” gets an A grade and is perfect for visiting children who are taking their spring break in The Villages.  Even the adults can enjoy this film and can hold the popcorn for the kids.

“Zootopia” is currently running at the Barnstorm Theater in The Villages.
