There was an offensive explosion at this week’s Central Florida League games as six games produced almost 300 hits.
In the early game on Field #2 IHOP scored 7 runs in the top of the 7th and held off Synergy Wealth 24-17.
IHOP was led by Bob Cramer, who had 5 hits as the lead off batter. Other players with perfect 4/4 days were: Wayne Mallory, Bill Reed, and Ron Goldman. Dan MacPherson chipped in with 2 triples and 4 rbi’s, while Larry Williams and Tim Healey also had triples and drove in 2 runs each. Synergy got home runs in the first inning from Jim Creed and John Reedy. Reedy drove in a total of 4 runs. Rick Duemler had a pair of doubles. Dick Adams, Dave Williams, and pitcher Gary Lewis all drove in 2 runs for Synergy.
The other early game saw Humana defeat Babiarz Law 16-12.
Pitcher Gary Luck and Chuck Bowman led Humana with 4 hits. Bob Roth drove in 2 runs with a pair of doubles, while Tom McGann drove in 3 runs with 2 hits. Others with 2 hits and 2 rbi’s included: Dave Oatley, Ed Bergheimer, and Scott King. Babiarz got 3 hits each from: Ed Moriarity, John Charles, Felix Rodriguez, Doug Nantais, and Ralph Furbush.
3 Amigos scored in all but one inning and survived an 8 run bottom of the 7th comeback attempt by Harlan to win 29-20.
The Amigos were led by: Dave Hinkley, Rod Severson, and, manager Wayne Grunewald with 5 hits apiece. Pitcher John Ashby and John Wyks added 4 hits each. Terry Brooks and Jim Rogers drove in 3 runs and Al DuBuc had 4 rbi’s. Harlan had a solo homer by Charles Clare to start the bottom of the 1st inning and a 3 run homer from Bill Naasz in the seventh. Bob Whiteley and Tom Ceglie had 4 hits; while, Charles Clare, Bruce Harlan, and George Kennedy had 3 hits in the loss.
It took Fross & Fross 8 innings to beat Buffalo Crossing.
Buffalo Crossing scored 12 runs in the top of the 7th to take the lead as the team sent 15 batters to the plate. Will Kutter led Buffalo with 5 hits. Tom Winegarden had a solo homer as did Bill Reed. Jim Harrison had a 3 run homer in the 7th. Fross & Fross was led by John Gouin who had 5 hits. John Buchanan and Ed Chirumbolo chipped in 4 hits each. Jim Wheeler was perfect with 3 hits, 5 rbi’s, and 3 intentional walks. The last one was issued in the 8th to set up a potential double play; but the shortstop failed to handle the ground ball by Dave Pope and John Buchanan scored the winning run from 3rd base.
After trailing the whole game Mulberry Integrative Medicine scored 6 runs in the bottom of the last inning to beat Paul Davis Restorations 14-13.
Paul Davis got 3 hits each from: Bob Buchanan and Tim Wilcox. Tom Aldridge had a double and a 2 run homer. Others with 2 hits included: Jeff Bekasi, Don Melcher, and Bob Kelly. Mulberry got 3 hits each from: Jack Nagle, Gene Llafet, and Mike Bernbach. Ed Haith, Chuch Alexander, Ken Scanlon, and John Kushner all chipped in 2 hits. The winning runs scored on a single by Gene Llafet.
In the most lopsided game of the day Softball’s R Game mercied Perkins 19-1 in 5 innings.
Pitcher Ed Krisha threw a six hitter with Mike Hyott being the only Perkins player to have 2 hits. Softball’s R Game’s Scott Marshall and Bill Dunkley had 3 hits each. Gerry Street had a 3 run homer and a single to drive in another run. Don Mulneix had 2 hits and 3 rbi’s as did Dick Smith.
