A 36-year-old homeless man was arrested after allegedly attempting to steal two pair of men’s shorts at Beall’s at Mulberry Grove Plaza in The Villages.
Chivas Antoni Mitchell entered the store at about 12:30 p.m. Thursday and attempted to take the shorts from the store without paying for them, according to an arrest report from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office. Anti-theft sensors which had been attached to the shorts activated the alarm, the arrest report indicated. Mitchell told a deputy he did not have the money to pay for the shorts which are valued at $49.98.
